Evaluation of Intellectual Assets

When it is desired to buy, sell, license, determine the transfer price or value for the purpose of guaranteeing intellectual assets, an external expert opinion on the value of these assets is generally required. Through our evaluation and support services for financing backed by intellectual property, we assist our clients in identifying the fair value of such assets for management, commercial, corporate, banking or judicial purposes, and also offer qualitative assessment options for legal protection or the supply chain of a company, in order to support managers in the optimisation of their operations in Brazil.

Our evaluation practice aims to determine fair market values of intellectual assets that are very close to the practical business reality. We understand that rankings (usually of trademarks, which measure values in the region of billions of reais) have their use in company marketing. We also understand that, having been well trained, the entity’s own accountants should be able to follow the legal rules and establish the value for which the intellectual assets should be included on the balance sheets. Our advantage in the evaluation area is the measurement of the correct value when a company actually wants to buy/sell or must pay/receive compensation for an intellectual asset. Our approach is also preferred by financial institutions, since it indicates realistic values for the acceptance of this type of asset as a guarantee.
