Computer programs fit into the concept of intellectual works and are subject to copyright protection. The protection afforded by Brazilian legislation to software is international in scope, including all countries that are signatories to the Berne Convention.

Our specialised team advises clients throughout the registration process at the BPTO, including the preparation of the formal documentation, selection of the technical data required, monitoring of the process until the issue and confirmation of the Registration Certificate, as well as the verification of the legal instruments related to the development and creation of the program, such as employment contracts and service agreements.

  • registration of computer programs with the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO);
  • assignment and transfer of ownership at the BPTO, as well as evaluation of other legal aspects related to the protection of software;
