With over 20 years’ experience in intellectual property, strategy, finance and management, Eduardo supports clients in matters involving the protection, negotiation and valuation of intellectual assets. He is often asked to help value patents, trademarks and copyrights in the context of litigation and contractual disputes.

Eduardo can further assist companies strengthen their Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) frameworks in Brazil, by ensuring their local intellectual property, data protection, and regulatory strategies align with both business objectives and legal requirements. By integrating robust risk management practices, cybersecurity measures, compliance and supply chain management programs, he can help organizations navigate the country’s regulatory landscapes while safeguarding their innovations and operational integrity. His approach focuses on identifying the latest and most practical technological or nature-based solutions that can help a company meet its needs, then work with management to adopt these solutions.

With a degree in Control and Automation Engineering from Rio de Janeiro’s Catholic University, Eduardo began his career as a research assistant in the university's vehicle engineering lab. In 1999 he began working in the financial markets, on the treasury desk of an investment bank of a large Canadian conglomerate. In 2002 he became co-founder and general manager of a medical-technology start-up - where he participated in the R&D, intellectual protection and industrialization of the technology, plus the constitution, financing and construction of the company's network of partnerships, culminating in the international negotiation of foreign IP rights the company obtained along the way.

Eduardo joined Dannemann Siemsen’s patent team in 2008, becoming a licensed Industrial Property Agent in 2011. In 2012, he assumed responsibility for the firm’s IP Valuation practice, he further joined the firm’s management in 2018 and has served as Data Protection Officer since 2019. In his current role he advises the firm on governance, risk, compliance, cybersecurity and sustainability issues.

Internationally, he served as treasurer and member of the board of directors of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), is a member of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) and of the editorial board of LES Nouvelles, the international licensing journal. He has also taught classes on intellectual property valuation and negotiation for LES.

Eduardo is an inventor, with patents in the field of medical prosthesis manufacturing, he supports the use of innovation in favor of sustainability, writes articles on the intersection of innovation and finance, and contributes to international workshops on the valuation of intellectual assets.
