The Brazilian Patent Office (BPTO) offers the PPH program, which effectively accelerates the examination proceeding of patent applications in Brazil.
In 2025, the availability of PPH requests for applications in the IPC H04 classification (ELECTRIC COMMUNICATION TECHNIQUE) has been highly restricted.
A new PPH cycle will commence on October 1, 2025 (next Wednesday), and PPH requests in the IPC H04 classification will be accepted during this cycle.
This will represent the last opportunity to submit PPH requests for applications in IPC H04 within this year.
Furthermore, the BPTO has set a cap of 140 PPH requests in this classification, which we estimate will be reached within the first few hours of October 1, 2025.
If your organization is interested in submitting PPH requests for applications in IPC H04, please provide the following IMMEDIATELY via return email:
1. Application numbers (Brazilian official number and/or our internal reference)
2. Copies of the favorable examination report on the patentability of the claims and any amendments, which will serve as the basis for the PPH request
