Peter Dirk Siemsen was born in Rio de Janeiro, graduated from the State University of Rio de Janeiro and was admitted to the OAB in 1955. He is a former partner at the Dannemann Siemsen firm, a member of the IP Hall of Fame Academy, founder and current honorary president of ABPI and ASIPI, distinguished partner and great collaborator of ABAPI, Honorary Member and Former President of AIPPI and Honorary Member of FICPI, Former Vice-President of the ICC Intellectual Property Commission and ICC regional ambassador to Latin America, arbitrator at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre and Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS).
Peter is also a member of INTA (former director and recipient of the “President's Award”), GRUR, AIPLA, ITMA, ECTA, Marques, LES, ATRIP, LIDC, and member of the Board of Directors of Amcham/RJ, among numerous others. He is the author of a series of articles published on industrial property and technology transfer in Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Japan, Spain, Hungary and the United States and has lectured in Brazil, Latin America, the United States, South Africa, Europe, Japan and Australia.
He was awarded the “Tamandaré Merit” Medal in 1972 and the Order of Naval Merit in 2006, both awarded by the Brazilian Navy. In recognition of his work, he has been featured in important publications such as Chambers & Partners 2021 - in the Global and Latin America editions, MIP IP Star 2020, LACCA - Latin American Corporate Counsel Association, WTR 1000 2021 - World Trademark Review, Who's Who Legal and The Legal 500. As a hobby he takes part in sailing regattas, having been Brazilian and South American champion and world veteran, and he is also an international and Olympic judge.
