With a degree in Biological Sciences from Iguaçu University, Helder has a master’s degree and a PhD in Biological Sciences both from Rio de Janeiro Federal University (with an emphasis on Plant Biotechnology and Bioprocesses), having done his dissertation and thesis research at the Genetics and Biochemistry Laboratory at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa). He has extensive knowledge in plant molecular genetics and biotechnology, plant-microbe interactions, biological nitrogen fixation and the use of biologicals in agriculture.
From September 2015 to May 2019, he was Postdoctoral fellow at the Molecular Plant Biology Laboratory of Rio de Janeiro Federal University's Institute of Medical Biochemistry (IBqM/UFRJ).
He has been working as a patent technical consultant at Dannemann Siemsen since March 2022, mainly in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and agricultural products, providing support for national and international clients and dealing with prior art searches, the analysis on patentability, and drafting and the administrative prosecution of patent applications, as well as providing technical consultancy in these areas. In 2023, he completed ABAPI’s "Professional Training Course on Industrial Property-Basic Level", WIPO/BPTO’s “Advanced Course on Patents” and attended the "Patents and Bioinnovation Course for the Amazon Region" (IFAM/INPI).
He is also a member of CRBio-RJ.
